Drawing on her experiences working in Democratic politics, Barker reflects on the personal and political journey that led her from committed party insider to outspoken critic of the party's direction. Through personal stories and behind-the-scenes accounts from campaigns and political organizations, Barker will share her perspective on political identity, party realignment, the influence of donors and activists, and the challenges facing America's political institutions.
The program will explore the themes and conclusions of her book while providing insight into the forces shaping contemporary political discourse.
ABOUT OUR SPEAKER:
Evan Barker is a writer, columnist, podcast host, and former Democratic campaign operative and political strategist.
Over the course of her political career, she worked with Democratic candidates and causes, raising millions of dollars and gaining firsthand experience inside national political campaigns and organizations.
A first-generation college graduate, Barker earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas and later became known for her commentary on politics, culture, and public affairs. She is the author of Nothing Left: Confessions of a Democratic Operative, a memoir and political critique that examines her journey from committed Democratic activist to outspoken critic of the party establishment.
Barker lives in Northern California and writes and speaks on political realignment, populism, public policy, and the future of American democracy.
